Obituary of Edward J Braknis

Edward Braknis, of Wildwood Crest passed away at home on September 23, 2016. Born in Philadelphia, Pa. Ed attended Olney High School and received his BA and MBA in Physics from the University of Pennsylvania. He began his career with NASA in Huntsville, AL and went on to work with Naval Intelligence in Philadelphia, and with Naval Warfare Systems in Bucks County and in Patuxent River, MD. He ended his long career with the Coast Guard ( civilian ) in Cape May, NJ. Ed enjoyed many sports, especially ice hockey. He loved all Philadelphia Sports Teams and remained a loyal fan throughout his life. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary, devoted son, John, brother, Charles, brother-in-law, Bob Brown ( Carol ) sisters-in-law, Barbara Kennedy ( Loren ) Nancy Harton ( John ) , brother-in-law, Bill McCann. He was predeceased by his sister, Ann McCann. Ed was an active member of Crest Community Church and served faithfully at the Food Bank and its work with the needy. A special thank you to Dr. Andrew Drake and Holy Redeemer Hospice for their care and support throughout his illness. In Ed's memory a small contribution to the Salvation Army would be greatly appreciated to help those who are less fortunate, especially during the Holiday Season.
