John “Jack” Patrick Burke, age 83, of Wildwood Crest, NJ. Passed away peacefully Sunday, November 6, 2016. Jack was born August 1, 1933 in South Philadelphia, Pa. to Tom and Ruth (Wagner ) Burke. He was employed as Police Officer for the Philadelphia Police Department. He then was employed by John Tinney Trucking Company. Upon moving to Wildwood he became a Motel owner of the Galaxy and Time and Tide. For the past 31 years, Jack owned the Olympic Resort Motel in Wildwood Crest, NJ. Jack was an active member of the Assumption Catholic Church , a lifetime member of the Fralinger String Band and a Honorary member of the Wildwood Elks. He was an avid sports fan , especially all Philadelphia Teams and Notre Dame. He enjoyed vacationing and was a car enthusiast. He is remembered best for his kind heart, sense of humor and joke telling. Lovingly remembered and survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Kathleen Burke. Sons: Jack ( Alice) , Brian, Mark, and Craig ( Heather) , Grandchildren: Logan, Ethan, Kelsey ( Tom ) and Tommy. Comforting companion the family dog , Simon. John is preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Ruth ( Wagner ) Burke, brothers, Tom Burke and Bill Burke, grandson, John Patrick Burke. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 am Thursday , November 10, 2016 at The Assumption Catholic Church , 7100 Seaview Ave., Wildwood Crest, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am.
