Thomas, Marie K. (Dittmar) , - of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2017, at Churchman Village Nursing Home, at the age of 94. Marie, a native of Philadelphia and long-time resident of North Wildwood, NJ, was preceded in death by her loving "sailor-boy" husband of 66 years, Raymond J. Thomas. She was a faith-filled, loyal and kind woman, proud graduate of St. Benedict School and Mercy Academy High School, and worked for many years at LaSalle University. Above all else she valued her family and Catholic faith, and instilled in her daughters the generational family history through stories, journaling, an appreciation for the beauties of nature and song, and dependence on God in all things. She is sadly missed by her daughters Ellen Thomas of Wilmington, DE, Joan (Joe) Gallagher of Metairie, LA, Karen (Kevin) Kohler of Maple Glen, PA, sister Anita Galan, and six grandchildren: Tom (Sara) Gallagher, Kevin (Diana) Kohler, Sarah Gallagher, Brian (Theresa) Kohler, Maureen Gallagher and Frank (Morgan) Kohler, 7 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and devoted friend Sister Barbara Kolonoski, ASC. She is also predeceased by her brothers Jack and Jerry Dittmar. The family wishes to express its appreciation for the loving care and support provided by the staff of both Churchman Village and Heartland Hospice. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 11 AM at St. Ann Church, 2901 Atlantic Ave., Wildwood, NJ, with visitation in the church from 10-10:45 and burial at Cape May County Veterans Cemetery in Cape May Court House.
