Obituary of Louis Joseph Suppa

Louis Joseph Suppa of Wildwood, NJ passed away on Friday May 1, 2015 after a short illness, surrounded by his family. He was born in Medford, Mass. on September 20, 1925 but was raised in South Philadelphia on12th and McKean. At 17 he joined the Coast Guard during World War II, serving on a troop transport carrier. He love to tell stories about the Panama Canal and hanging out In San Francisco. After the service he and his family summered in Stone Harbor where he met Ann Silvidio, the love of his life and wife of 58 years, who predeceased him in May of 2007. They were married in May of 1949 and eventually purchased their home on Hand Avenue where he still lived. He served on the Wildwood Police Department for 29 years, earning the position of Chief of Police until his retirement in 1983. They spent his retirement years visiting relatives in Italy, enjoying the winter months in Florida with friends and family. Many people will remember seeing him at the parking lot on Garfield and Ocean Avenues during the summer season walking around the lot with the cigar in his mouth, parking cars and renting bikes. We would like to thank all the locals, restaurant servers and bartenders who have taken care of Dad these last years since Mom passed. He loved going out and talking to all of you. You made his last years here in Wildwood very special. Lou is survived by Toni Suppa and son Parker Glore, June and Lance McCallion and son and daughter in law Lance and Danielle, Luanne and Bill Kelly and daughters Jackie and Sarah, Louis Suppa and son Louis, and Debbie Suppa. His brother and wife Tony and Velma Suppa, his sister and husband Marie and Bill Demitowitz. Friends and relatives were invited to Lou’s Life Celebration on Tuesday May 5 at Saint Anns Catholic Church. The viewing was from 8:30 to 9:30, mass is at 10 AM. Interment following at St Marys Cemetery in West Cape May. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Organization. www.s.komen.org/donate.
