Obituary of Elizabeth Louise Wilson

    Elizabeth Louise Wilson (McCooley), 79, of Wildwood, NJ passed away February 6, 2025 surrounded by her loving family and partner, Don Hittle. Elizabeth was born April 17, 1945 in Hammond, Indiana, the daughter of Stephen and Eva McCooley.  She was the youngest of eight children. 

    Elizabeth, known as Bette to all her family and friends is survived by her partner, Don Hittle of Wildwood, NJ, her 4 children, Steve (Trish) Hancock of Millington, MD, Kym (Jim, predeceased) Moore of Sewell, NJ, Suzi Pierce of Morton, PA, Danny (predeceased). Grandchildren, Jeff Moore of Los Angeles, CA, Jess (Tom) of West Deptford, NJ, John Pierce of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, Abie (James) Hodgson of Media, PA, Kelli Hancock of Allentown, PA, Beth Hancock of Millington, MD.  Great Grandchildren, Bryson, Sawyer, Charlotte, Nora and Levi.

    Preceding Bette in death was Ray Wilson, her husband of 37 years. Bette was a life member of the Army-Navy Union 52 Ladies Auxiliary of National Park, NJ and a member of the American Legion Post 184 Wildwood, NJ Ladies Auxiliary. Bette was happiest spending time with family and friends.  She had a great sense of humor and made friends wherever she went.  She enjoyed many things throughout her life like cooking, shopping, reading, and especially having a good time.  Bette and her partner Don enjoyed having a drink and meeting friends at the Firehouse Tavern, as well as the Ship & Shore, in Wildwood.  Bette and Don especially loved going to Ocean City, MD a couple of times a year.

    Memorial donations in Bette’s memory may be directed to https://vva.org/donate/ or any Veteran’s organization of your choice   Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation at Ingersoll-Greenwood Funeral Home, 1201 Central Ave., North Wildwood, NJ 08260 on Monday, February 24, 2025 from 10 AM to 11 AM.
