William (Bill) Carr, 93, of Wildwood Crest, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on September 4, surrounded by his family.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1932. Graduate of St. Joseph Prep and La Salle College. William lived a long and meaningful life marked by kindness, quiet strength, and deep love for his family and community.
William proudly served in the United States Navy. In his younger days he was a lifeguard for North Wildwood Beach Patrol and later built a career in education at Wildwood High School and Lower Cape May Regional High School, where he was known for his integrity, work ethic, and warm demeanor. During the summer months he worked at Abbotts Dairies delivering milk and ice cream. In retirement, he continued to contribute to his community, often volunteering his time for Wildwood Crest Board of Education and Wildwood Crest Zoning Board and offering a helping hand to neighbors and friends.
Above all, William was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is remembered for his gentle humor, generous spirit, and wisdom he shared with those fortunate enough to have known him. He loved the beach, ocean, and his garage.
He is survived by his brother Timothy Carr (Peggy). Wife of 65 years Judith Miles Carr. Children Vicky Mason (Tim), Cathy Lewis (Scott), Christopher Carr ( Rebecca), and Matthew Carr, (Margo). Grandsons Jason Mulherrin, Christopher Mulherrin (Angela ), Evan Carr, Brayden Carr, Dylan Lewis and Gavin Carr. Great grandson Finnegan Mulherrin.
He is predeceased by his parents William and Mary ( Callahan) Carr, sister Julia Katheder (Don).
Services will be held at Assumption Church, 7100 Seaview Avenue Wildwood Crest NJ on Thursday September 11. Visitation 10-11:45 , Mass at 12 PM In lieu of flowers, donations to the organization of your choice. Condolences at ingersollgreenwoodfh.com
