Stephen R DeHorsey, Sr of North Wildwood peacefully passed away on Tuesday September 2, 2025 surrounded by his loving wife and three children


Steve was born December 7, 1947 in Philadelphia PA.  He was a member of St Edwards Parrish. After graduating from Thomas Edison High School in 1966 he was soon drafted and served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge as a ranking sergeant in 1969. He moved to Cape May County in 1970 taking a job as an apprentice / journeyman plumber with Clarence Bradshaw Plumbing & Heating . Steve went on to achieve a NJ State Master Plumbers License starting his own business.  Eventually he took his skill and knowledge to Showboat Hotel and Casino joining the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 68 until retiring in 2008.


 Steve was active in sports his whole life playing in North Philadelphia playground organizations as well as school programs. He passed his passion for sports onto his three children teaching them how to play and honing their individual talents and skills in our kitchen and backyard as well as on outside courts and fields. Steve was active in local youth sports programs coaching in The Greater Wildwood Little League, The North Wildwood Recreation Winter Basketball League, The North Wildwood Soccer Club within the Cape May County League and the first local girls travelling Soccer Club known as the South Shore Stars.


Steve is survived by his loving wife, Lucille (Bimbo) DeHorsey, his son, Stephen R DeHorsey, Jr (Charlsie), daughters Nicole M DeHorsey and Jacquelyn S Ritchie (Ryan), his cherished grandchildren AJ, Jordyn and Nora DeHorsey, Christopher Jr and Cole Leusner, and Jayde Ritchie. Steve is survived by one sister, Lorraine DeHorsey Brady of PA . He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.


Steve was predeceased by his parents, John Joseph and Margaret Mary (Hughes) DeHorsey, His brother John J DeHorsey Jr, sisters Helen M DeHorsey Dulin, Jacqueline S DeHorsey Miller and Margaret Mary DeHorsey Goldstein.


Visitation  Wednesday , Septtember 17, 2025  at 1 PM to 2 PM at the Ingersoll Greenwood Funeral Home , 1201 Central Ave., North Wildwood, NJ 08260, and at 2 PM a service will be held at the Funera Home.  Burial will be private   Condolences at ingersollgreenwoodfh.com
