Joseph Edwin Spuhler Obituary

Joseph Edwin Spuhler, 78, of Wildwood, NJ, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, Dec. 14, 2025, in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.

Joe was born on Sept. 8, 1947, in Atlantic City, NJ, to Joseph and Minerva Spuhler. He graduated from Wildwood High School and earned a business degree from Temple University. Growing up in Wildwood, Joe played high school baseball and worked for the Wildwood Beach Patrol and his family’s business, Spuhler’s Esso Station. After college, he moved to Montreal, Quebec, where he met Holly King while they were both working as buyers for Simpson’s Department Store. Joe and Holly married in May 1979 and went on to share 46 years of marriage, building a legacy of love that will continue through their family.

Joe was the proud father of two children: Lauren Spuhler Krabbenhoft (Adam) of Pflugerville, Texas, and Brad Spuhler (Sandi) of Spring City, Pennsylvania. He was also a loving grandfather to Cole Krabbenhoft, Tessa Spuhler, Reid Krabbenhoft and Jack Spuhler.

Joe raised his family in Wildwood, where he was actively involved in the community through the Wildwood Lions Club and the Wildwood Planning Board, while also launching several small businesses. He was the dedicated owner and operator of Lighthouse Pointe Restaurant & Bar for more than 25 years. Through the restaurant, he forged lasting friendships and helped shape the futures of countless employees he held dear. Joe was also a licensed realtor.

Joe enjoyed golf and was a longtime member of Wildwood Golf & Country Club. He cherished days spent on the course with his son, Brad, and memories made with friends. He also loved skiing and hockey. When his children attended Syracuse University, Joe became a devoted fan of the Orange. He followed their careers closely, celebrating every milestone with pride. He also cheered on the Philly teams.

Throughout his life, Joe adored his dogs, including Lead, Digger, Buffy and Chase, each bringing him immense joy. His love for animals lives on through those who knew him, and the family invites others to honor his memory by supporting animals in need.
