Kathleen C "Kathy" Schroeder Obituary

Kathleen (“Kathy”) C. Schroeder, 75, of Wildwood, New Jersey, passed away after a brief illness on January 16, 2026, with her sons by her side.

She was born on May 14, 1950, in Trenton, New Jersey, to William McCormack and Mildred (V)McCormack, both of whom predeceased her. Upon her arrival in Wildwood and until her death, Kathy focused on her favorite things – her family, teaching and the beach. As the shoreline eroded, her favorite beaches shifted from Moore’s Inlet to Hereford Inlet, and finally to 2 nd and Ocean Avenues.

For 30 years, Kathy devoted herself to her job as a business teacher at Wildwood Catholic High School and Middle Township High School. Teaching was never just a job to her; it was an extension of her belief in people and their potential – encouraging patience, confidence and respect in each student who entered her class. She always showed a deep sensitivity to persons struggling in life or misunderstood by others. She continued to give of herself after retiring by volunteering at the Lower Cape Senior Center, where she offered companionship, laughter and genuine care to those she met.

Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, Earl J. Schroeder, Jr., whose memories she carried with her. As a mother, she was guided by the same empathy, patience, and love that made her an excellent teacher. She raised her two sons, Bryan and Casey, to be independent, thoughtful men, always encouraging them to see the world with understanding and respect for others. She took great pride in the people they became, the families they created and her love for them was constant and unconditional.

Most importantly, her role as a grandmother brought her the greatest joys of her life. Kathy shared a special bond with her four granddaughters – Moira, Maeve, Keira and Margo, and her grandson Blaise. She made them laugh each time she saw them and delighted in their unique personalities and perspectives.

She is survived by her two sons, Bryan Schroeder (Jacqueline) and Casey Schroeder (Cynthia); her cherished grandchildren -- Moira, Blaise, Maeve, Keira and Margo; her younger sister, Susan (McCormack) Nomejko; her younger brother, William McCormack; and several nieces and nephews, extended family members and dear friends whose lives were touched by her compassion and selflessness.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at the Ingersoll-Greenwood Funeral Home in North Wildwood, New Jersey, with the viewing at 10:00 am, and service beginning at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Lower Cape Senior Center, 2612 Bayshore Road, Villas, New Jersey 08251. Condolences at ingersollgreenwoodfh.com
