William “Bill” Edward Staples, 72, of Villas, NJ, sadly passed away on January 21, 2026. Formerly of Andalusia, PA, Bill was born on April 21, 1953, to the late Ben and Helen Staples.
Bill was a proud U.S. Army veteran. He was best known for his loyalty, hard work, and dedication during his 27-year career with the Wildwood Sewer Utility. Bill was committed to fitness and competed in 10 full marathons, numerous half marathons, 10Ks, 5Ks, and a triathlon. He maintained a daily workout routine and was dedicated to healthy living.
Bill had a big personality and always made his presence known. He was a devoted fan of the Phillies, Eagles, Sixers, and Flyers and never shied away from sharing his opinions. Bill often shared fond stories of his childhood pony, Bucky.
Above all else, Bill’s proudest title was “Pop.” He could often be found chasing after Lincoln and Vivian or welcoming them into “Pop’s pool.”
Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Michele Staples, whom he married on October 1, 1994; his children, Jason, Jessica (Mike), and Jonathan; and his grandchildren, Madison, Melody, Lincoln and Vivian. He is also survived by his siblings, his in-laws, and many cherished nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Billy, and his brother, Benny.
A memorial service will be held at Ingersoll Funeral Home, North Wildwood, New Jersey, on January 30, 2026, with visitation from 10:00–11:00 a.m., followed by the memorial service from 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill’s memory to Disabled American Veterans (DAV) at dav.org Condolences at ingersollgreenwoodfh.com
