Marie T Karolyi Obituary

Karolyi, Marie T. (née Kinsing), 70, passed away unexpectedly on the morning of February 12, 2026.

Daughter of the late Charles and Kathleen (née Smith) Kinsing , Marie was also a sister to Patricia (late Bob) Gilfillan, Kathleen (late John) Sitongia, and the late Lemmie (Fran) Patterson. Born and raised in Philadelphia, she spent the last 25 years living in Shawcrest Park, Wildwood, after relocating from the city. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A devoted and loving wife, Marie shared nearly 55 wonderful years of marriage with her husband and best friend, George Karolyi. Their love and commitment were the foundation of their family. She was a proud mother to Steven Karolyi; David (Colleen) Karolyi; Princess (Craig) Grosso; and the late Christopher (Jessica) Karolyi. Her greatest joy was being “Nanny,” an extra-special grandmother to multiple grandsons and two granddaughters, and a proud Great- Nanny to three beautiful great-granddaughters and the first great-grandson on the way . Her family was her world, and she poured her heart into each and every one of them.

Marie dedicated much of her life to caring for others through her work in healthcare. She worked for 15 years at Island Avenue Medical Center in Southwest Philadelphia , then continued at Cape Urgent Care in Cape May for more than 12 years and at Jersey Shore Gastro for the past 20 years. Known by her co-workers as “Mama,” she was a trusted, compassionate, and tireless presence, always offering guidance and support to all around her.

An active and dedicated member of the Anglesea Fire House, Marie never let her health obstacles stop her from helping, especially with Bingo. She loved dinners with George, especially at Nino’s, and treasured the simple joys of life. She was the kind of person who would help anyone with anything. A hard worker in every sense of the word - at work, at home, and in life - Marie always had a smile on her face, even when facing health challenges. She was the strongest person, meeting life’s difficulties with quiet courage and grace. She may have been small, but she was a fearless fighter.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a  viewing on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Catholic service at 11:00 a.m. at Notre Dame De La Mer Parish ,  Assumption Church, 7100 Seaview Avenue, Wildwood Crest, NJ 08260 . Interment will be private.

We are certain that Marie was joyfully greeted at the Pearly Gates by her youngest son,Christopher, and her beloved Buddy Boy. Her warmth, strength, and unwavering love will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
