Leo A Scheuermann Obituary
Leo Scheuermann, 93, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026, in Ocean City, New Jersey, surrounded by the love of his family. Leo was born on December 6, 1932, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Regina (Fleckinstein) Scheuermann and Valentine Scheuermann. He was the tenth of eleven children in a large and loving family.Leo was the devoted husband of Patricia (Bresnahan) Scheuermann, the love of his life, with whom he shared 68 wonderful years of marriage. He is also survived by his sister, Regina (Scheuermann) Neff.
He was the proud and loving father of seven children: David (Shari), Marty, Beth, Jane (Greg), Jerry (MJ), Lee (Bill), and Tom (Paige). His family continued to grow with 23 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him tremendous joy and pride. He kept them as busy as they kept him: working, shuffling cards, setting up the Chess board, or lending a hand to anyone who needed it.
After serving his country in the United States Army, Leo returned home to Pittsburgh, where he began raising his family and started his first bakery, Danny Donuts. He was an early riser by trade and nature, but he didn’t just make donuts and pastries; he made mornings.
He later went on to open Donut House, continuing his passion for baking and serving the community. In 1985, Leo moved to Ocean City, New Jersey, where he purchased Dot’s Pastry Shop, which became a beloved part of the town and a place where generations of customers were welcomed with his warmth, humor, and kindness.Leo loved Jesus with all his heart and lived his life with a quiet (his grandkids would lovingly say “not so quiet”) but powerful faith. He especially loved singing hymns, including “How Great Thou Art.” His genuine love for people and joyful spirit made everyone who met him feel welcomed and valued Leo will be remembered for his gentle spirit, deep faith, and unwavering devotion to his family. His life was a beautiful example of love, generosity, and joy.
A viewing will be held Friday, March 13, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by an 11:00 a.m. service at Cape May County Veterans Cemetery, 127 Crest Haven Road, Cape May Court House, New Jersey 08210.
Leo’s family finds comfort in knowing he is now at peace and reunited with the Lord he loved so dearly. And as he would sing each time he got in the car, he’s on the road again.
