Suzanne U Patterson Obituary
Suzanne (nee Updike) Patterson,
May 28, 1937-April 4, 2026
Suzanne passed away peacefully on April 4.
Born and raised in Lawrenceville, NJ, Sue graduated from Princeton High School, and Rider College, where she met her husband Bob.
After marrying Bob in 1962, they were stationed in Georgia while Bob served in the U.S. Army, and eventually moved to Wildwood Crest. They remained in the Wildwoods for almost 60 years together raising their family and being involved in all things Cape May County. She and Bob enjoyed life traveling to Florida and taking many cruises to the Caribbean as well as to Hawaii, Alaska and thru the Panama Canal.
Sue worked many jobs throughout her early years: switchboard operator at the Lawrenceville School, medical assistant at Princeton Hospital, and many years as an executive administrative assistant in area banks then eventually retiring from CMC technical school as Purchasing Coordinator in 2004. Along the way Sue also had her own secretarial services business for a few years.
In her spare time, Sue served many years on both the Wildwood Crest Planning and Zoning boards as well as a Brownie Troop Leader. She also spent time as part of the Wildwood Crest Republican Club, the Crest Community church choir, and as a hospital volunteer. She was most recently a member of the North Wildwood Methodist Church.
She loved her family fiercely and was a wonderful mother and grandmother always making sure to bake something special for family. Her “granny snacks” will be remembered by all her grandchildren.
Sue survived by her son, Rob (Ruth) of Raleigh, NC, daughter, Kim (Bill) Bolton of Delran, NJ, and brothers Bill (Sue) Updike and Doug (Cindy) Updike, her grandchildren Robby, Emma, Megan, Gabriella, Jacob and her great grandson Quinn, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Ingersoll-Greenwood Funeral Home in N. Wildwood on Tuesday, April 21, calling hour begins at 10am and service at 11. Burial is at Cold Spring Presbyterian Cemetery.
