Sharon Lee Murphy
June 17, 1947- July 1, 2023

Sharon Lee (Bretherick) Murphy, age 76, passed away on July 1, 2023, surrounded by her family, at Atlantic Care Mainland after an extended illness.
Sharon was the third child of the late James and Harriet Bretherick of Darby, PA. She attended Darby Colwyn High School, Class of 1965. She was employed with Bell Telephone Company for more than 30 years starting as a telephone operator and retiring as an Engineering Assistant.Sharon married her loving husband of 56 years, Francis X. Murphy, and together they raised their three daughters in Delaware County and Allentown, PA.
Sharon enjoyed an early retirement at 50 and devoted her retirement years as a full time Mom-Mom to her eight grandchildren. She rarely missed a school activity, an athletic game, or a celebration involving her family.Sharon enjoyed many lifelong friendships and she and Fran traveled frequently to wonderful destinations across North America, Europe, and the Caribbean.
In addition to her husband Fran, Sharon is survived by her daughters Cheryl Murphy, Leah Reber (Chet), Michelle Murphy Patridge (Doug), grandchildren Kylie Casper (Brendan), Jake Patridge, Cameron Patridge, Griffin Patridge, Libby Reber, Ali Reber and Carli Reber, sisters Donna Bretherick Burdette (Paul), Lynn Bretherick, brother James Bretherick (Marci) and a large extended family with many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her sister Carol Bretherick Smilowski and her grandson Charlie Reber.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family on Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 11:00 to 12:30 p.m. at Brookside Country Club, 901 Willow Lane, Macungie, PA 18062. A Celebration of Life luncheon will follow. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Foundation, P.O. Box 781352, Philadelphia, PA 19178-1352 in loving memory of Charlie Reber and Sharon Murphy.
