Obituary of Joseph P. McAnaney

Joseph Patrick McAnaney, 79, passed away surrounded by his family on February 8, 2024. Joseph was born on Jan 6, 1945 to the late Francis and Regina McAnaney and spent most of his life in the Wildwoods. Joe is a 1963 graduate of Wildwood Catholic and spent his summers as a North Wildwood lifeguard. He served in the US Army in Korea and worked with his brother Frank at Wildwood Signs when he returned. Joe then worked for the City of North Wildwood for 31 years as a Public Works Foreman. After his marriage to Lynn he moved to West Wildwood in 1973 where he raised his family. Joe served his community as a West Wildwood firefighter. and was always ready to lend a hand to help anyone who needed him. He loved his work, the ocean, the beach, planting and caring for his trees and flowers, kyacking, and bike riding. He always took care of his home, his town, his friends and his neighbors. And especially his wife, his children and his grandchildren. Joe is survived by his wife of 53 years Evelyn (Lynn) Cavanaugh McAnaney, his four children: Shawn (Dana) McAnaney, Matthew (Sarah) McAnaney, Kevin (Amanda) McAnaney, and Heather Yerk. Also his eight grandchildren: Shane McAnaney, Griffin Yerk, Maddyn McAnaney, Marley McAnaney, Micah McAnaney, Colin McAnaney, Georgia Yerk, and Joseph Patrick McAnaney the 2nd. and his sister Mary (Tom) Vizzard. He was predeceased by his siblings Jean Stanton and Frank McAnaney.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am Tuesday Feb. 13th at St. Ann's Church, 2900 Atlantic Ave., Wildwood, NJ where friends may call from 10 to 10:45 am. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Cape May, NJ. Condolences may be sent to ingersollgreenwoodfh.com
