Dear Pati and Family,
I learned of Phyllis' passing only a few minutes ago (Fri a m), catching up with Wednesday's "Herald" - and regretfully too late to attend her services today.
I surely would have been there, for Phyllis was a very special person. She was one of the first people I met when relocating here to Cape May County in 1984. Since that time my late husband, Rick, and I shared and survived many dynamic events with Phyllis and Tony, touching all of our lives.
What a selfless, savvy and lively woman Phyllis was! - filled with energetic and creative ideas to always improve life in the community, a fearless warrior fighting for causes she believed in, and an unfailing friend and ally to countless people throughout her life.
I believe she loved her family more than anything, so I pray now for your strength to continue on without her powerful "wind beneath your wings". Perhaps angels provide that too, and you will feel it often. As you navigate through the heartache now enveloping you, please remember all the good times through the years that you enjoyed and shared with her.
Love to all the family,
Phyllis Childs

I'm so sorry to hear about Phyllis. She was a very special lady who was a good friend to my mother, Jane Von Savage, who just left us in Sept. My condolences to the whole family - I know how much you'll miss her. Sincerely, Joyce Putnam

Dear Pati and family:
I only knew Phyllis for a short period of time but in that time she was a true light in my life. Someone I knew then and know now, I will never forget!
What a kind and amazing woman you have a lifetime of memories with and who now watches over you all. I was blessed to have met her and you as well.
May memories be of comfort to you now and her tremendous love for you bring smiles for years to come.
You were all very blessed,
Dawn

So sorry for your loss. Phyllis was a kind gentle woman but fierce in what she believed in. She knew how to run a campaign and got many people elected. Her legacy will live on at the lighthouse, her pride and joy. She is with the love of her life. She will be sorely missed by everyone.
