For close to 25 years, 7-8 high school friends gathered together in Avalon, NJ and every year our tradition was to stop into Pat’s Steak’s at his cafe in Stone Harbor. From my first cheesesteak and cup of she crab soup in 1990, he had me. And when I spent one fall/winter down the shore working at the Golden Inn to save money for college, Pat made me ham and eggs each morning and charged me only a few dollars. I would soak in his wisdom and friendship as we sat and talked. Never forget his generosity. Life is about relationships and serving others and Pat understood that. While he kept us spellbound regarding his times serving America in WWII, he always talked more about his family and his grandchildren. I am honored and forever impacted by his life.

Pat was a great man and I loved him as a friend. He was a man that stormed the beaches of Normandy and was extremely brave. I sat in his restaurant one day as he told us the full story of the day that he stormed the beaches. His restaurants were always great and its food was always fabulous. He always said his she crab soup as and his cheese steaks were the best. After eating 50 of them in my life time he was 100% correct. He lived an awesome life and may his soul rest in heaven.

Sorry to hear the passing of Pat. He was always a pleasure to see and especially to talk to. We stopped many times at Pats Lunch. It was a treasure to see him, and have an egg salad sandwich. Please always remember the good times and laughs he brought us all.

I am deeply saddened to hear about Pat's passing. My family always visited Pat's store and would always feast on his wonderful soups, while enjoying his delightful stories. Without exception, he would always share the latest news about his family and would beam with pride as he would speak about his wife, children and grandchildren. His eyes would twinkle and his smile sparkle as he would share how he met his bride. He was so proud of his children's accomplishments and was always excited to put all of his tips away for his grandchildren's future. Pat loved his country and spoke with humility on how he served during WWII. It was abundantly clear to anyone who met Pat that he was a great man. I know that he will be truly missed. May God cradle his family during this time.

So sorry to learn today that Pat had passed. I had the pleasure of enjoying Pat's soups, cheesesteaks, lobster rolls, and crabmeat on a bun for more than 30 years. But mostly I enjoyed the conversation. He was so proud of his wife, children, and grandchildren, and always wanted updates on my children. I remember the twinkle I'm his eye when he showed me a picture of his first great-grandchild. I loved to hear his stories about his childhood, the war, and his years in the restaurant business. I considered him a hero, mot just because of WWII, but because of the way he lived the rest of those "bonus days" after X-ray. He was one of my favorite people and I'll miss him.
Scott Myers (Pat usually called me "Doc")

So sorry for your loss. Pat and Frannie were my first employers when they had Gerlando's Restaurant in North Wildwood. I have such fond memories of them both. Pat introduced me to fine Italian food. My thoughts and prayers go out to Frannie and the rest of the family.
