Ritchie is an example to us all. Despite his challenges he always exceeded what the experts predicted he would do. He will be missed. I imagine him now with his father Rich and grandmother Helen and grandfather Leo. They are also greatly missed and were the best neighbors you could ever hope for.

Lindsay and Adam - I am so sorry to learn of Richie’s death. I remember the day he was born and spending time with him and your parents when we all lived on top of Monahan tires. My deepest condolences to both of you and your mom. xoxo

I had the pleasure of caring for Richie for several weeks in the ICU at UPenn. In my five years as an RN, his case presented challenges/ obstacles I had never dealt with before. After shortly overcoming those obstacles I learned just what an amazing person Richie was. His personality gave me a reason to show up to work every shift. The drive to make him better gave me a purpose in life and his love for and from his family opened up my outlook on life. I am truly honored to have taken care of such an inspirational patient and family. Riches smile and somewhat facetious personality will never be forgotten! Whether a friend, your family, a neighbor or a random stranger.. NEVER judge a book by its cover until you understand the true story on the inside. Rest easy Richie.

Richie ever since you were born you inspired us. You had no voice but your eyes let us know how you were feeling and how we were doing. Your smile could light up any day; pure joy from simple things. ..McDonald’s chocolate shake, WWF wrestling, ANY sports(Stinking Giants), watching us kids play video games or basketball. You smiled ear to ear and on some occasions it seemed like with your whole body. You would laugh at us and boy did we love to make you laugh!
As we got older, as everyone does you kept the smile despite many hardships. The last year was especially tough on you. Anyone that knows you should remember that you met every challenge, fought for every second on this earth and we should be inspired. We can’t let things depress us. We can’t get stressed over small things in life and the big things that face us we should meet with a smile. As you would have my friend. Thank you for a inspirational life; you will be missed!
