Please share a memory of Ronald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ronald Francis Stokes, age 69, of Wildwood Crest, NJ passed away peacefully at home with his wife and children by his side. Ron passed away after a three year long battle with a rare blood disorder, "Myelofibrosis" on August 4, 2015. Ron was born in Philadelphia and was a lifelong resident of Wildwood Crest. Ron was the son of Margaret (Spuhler) and Harry Stokes. In 1964 Ron graduated from Wildwood High School where he played football all four years until he broke his leg in a game that ended his football career. After a 57 year career as fourth generation owner of the Wildwood Linen Supply, Ron retired in 2012 to spend more time with his loving wife Becky, children, and grandchildren. Ron had a passion for traveling around the world, decorating his home for Christmas, tending to his roses, and trying out "hot" new restaurants. Ron was a member of the Wildwood Crest Fire Department from 1968 through 2013 and served as President from 1977 through 1982. Ron leaves a lasting legacy of honor, respect, and selflessness, always placing his family first. He honored his wife, loved his three children and lived his life joyfully. Even through his illness he was always the eternal optimist and he was courageous till the end. Ron is survived by his high school sweetheart Becky L. ( Davies) wife of 49 years; Daughter Holly and husband Robert McGhee, and their sons Joe, James, and Angus; Daughter Merry and husband Andrew Pors and their children Brandon and Ashley; Son Christopher and wife Alicia and their children Marley, Ethan and Noah; Brother Harry and wife Mary Ann of Bel Haven, North Carolina and their children Harry and Heidi; Aunt Ruth and her six children of Syracuse, NY. Visitation is set for Friday August 7th from 9:00am to 10:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. Visitation and Mass will be held at the Assumption Church, 7100 Seaview Avenue in Wildwood Crest, NJ 08260. Condolences www.ingersollgreenwoodfh.com
