Oh, Joe.. I just saw this obit today. You were a wonderful man… We had some great spiritual conversations. Although I am protestant and you were Catholic we were both Brothers In the Lord. I looked forward to talking to you every time I came to Wildwood on vacation. Fare the well my friend.. I’ll see you up there.

Joey and I were classmates at St Ann's and in 8th grade played Mr. and ,Mrs. Santa Claus in the Christmas pageant. We remained friends through HS corresponding from our respective boarding schools and attended neighboring colleges. ,Memories of our childhood and friendship as young adults and fun times spent with Gene O'Brien, Frannie Gallaccio and Ronnie Smith bring smiles to my face and joy to my heart. In later years I always welcomed Joe's prayers as I shopped for First Communion and Confirmation gifts for my grandchildren. He is missed but he is reunited and sharing new joy with his beloved family and so many of our classmates. Andrea Cafiero Balliette

I moved too NJ 10/71with my husband who’d grown up here; our son was born in March & his grandmother had led me to Christ 2 weeks before. Christmas’74 my husband deserted us for another girl.
I’d gone to The Lamb often & always found a joyous friend in Joe eager to pray & show me his books.
That Christmas I’d moved into a small apt with no money or room for a tree. Jote produced an 8” green electric ceramic tree that took small colored stick in lights saying Merry Christmas. He then held me as I cried & prayed for & over me. We were very close over the years & when my son graduated from 6th grade at the new Cape May County Christian School, he gave him a small silver bracelet with his nAme & on the back the date & scripture He mentored both of us with wise words whenever we came in & always was joking with us .
I will miss his warmth & his wonderful smile & spirit..

I worked with Joe at the bookstore off and on over the years. When he was in the little converted custard stand, I would walk there after work and stay an hour and half so he could go home and eat. When he was on 9th Avenue, I would often tease him about his old vacuum cleaner and how it would put out more dirt than it picked up. We laughed together, prayed together and I am thankful for the friendship my husband, Michael, and I had with him and Marylou. Our deepest sympathy to his family.

Joe was my roommate in my freshman year at Villanova. We took an immediate liking to each as we grew up in the Shore areas of Wildwood and Margate. I last saw Joe at his store about five years ago. He was a good man.
