Mourning the loss of William, who blessed us with his abundant kindness and delectable humor. His jovial presence was cherished at countless gatherings hosted by my dear mother, as he joined other Girardians in laughter and friendship. Since our early teens, I've been fortunate to witness his thoughtful nature. The void his departure leaves is significant; He will forever stay etched in our hearts.

Very sorry to have learned of Bill's recent passing. Have many great memories of golfing with him at Wildwood Country Club and sharing tall tales and adult beverages after each round. I will always remember his smiling face and gregarious nature. May your happy memories quickly replace these temporary tears of sadness.

Mr. Darling was an awesome person. I was a neighbor to him in Stone Harbor where he let me fish off his dock and taught me how to catch Spot Fish ...."the best bait fish...." according to him. Nicest man one could meet and a great family. God Bless you Mr. Darling.

I was one of Bill’s History students at MTHS who later became good friends with Bill after he left teaching and opened his marine business. Most of my time spent with Bill started with a “Do you remember so and so from Avalon/SH who used to do such and such”? or “Do you remember when you know who almost got caught doing you know what”. That was always the beginning of an hour or so long walk down memory lane of old Avalon/SH characters and friends. Many of whom I am sure will be waiting for Bill, in the hereafter, to correct the record. I would say rest in peace my friend but I am sure Bill is too busy shaking hands and telling stories.

Our deepest condolences to the Darling family! I always enjoyed exchanging golf stories with Bill at
various golf tournaments, as well as our meetings, in our neighborhood, during his many bike rides. We seemed to always
meet at the lottery counter at the Acme, where he would often say we would split our winnings when the lottery dollar amount
was very high. Bill will be sadly missed!

My condolences to the family from myself and the entire Tanner family. I found it interesting that Mr. Darling attended Girard College as also my grandfather did, of which I didn't realize what Girard College was until I was in my 30s or even 40s, although my grandfather talked often of it. I was very saddened when I did understand. An interesting side note - the 'Professor' from Gilligan's Island also attended Girard College. Once again, condolences from the Tanner family, with thoughts of the 'old' and 'real' Avalon !!!! Mark Tanner
