Obituary of John Karros

John Karros (Kerasovitis), 86, of Wildwood Crest, NJ passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 30, 2021. He was born in Avgerinos, Greece and was the eldest of 5 children. His parents Anastasios and Vasiliki Kerasovitis sent him to America to pursue a better life at the age of 16. His uncle Arthur Karros sponsored and took him in, giving him a home and a job in the family business. While working with his uncle Arthur, John met and then married the love of his life, Irene. They were inseparable throughout their 64 years of marriage. From traveling together, to socializing with friends together and most of all working together in all of their business endeavors. In 1979 they opened Schellenger’s Restaurant in Wildwood, NJ along with his brother-in-law Anthony and sister-in-law Valerie Trivelis until he retired in 2008. He was known as “Big John” or “Captain John” by his employees and associates. John was a very quiet, kind and loving man. He will be extremely missed by his children Bessie, Anna and Anastasios. His son-in-law Evangelos and his daughter-in-law Denise. His beloved grandchildren, who always put a smile on his face, Ellie, Rini, Joanna, Nikki, Katrina, Zoe and Mia. His littlest pride and joys were his great-grandchildren Evan, Angelo, Olivia, Theo and Jackson. John is also survived by his siblings Gus, Zoi, Angelo and Nick. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 10, 2022 at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 321 St Demetrios Ave., N. Wildwood, NJ.
