Obituary of Catherine L. Pelella

Catherine “Cass” Pelella, 80, of North Wildwood, New Jersey passed away peacefully in her home on February 5, 2023.  She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Harry “Dick” Pelella, her children Susan Pelella, Karen DiAddezio (Jeff), and David Pelella and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and many close friends.

Born on March 17 in Philadelphia, PA in 1942, Cass was the youngest child of the late Henry and Rose “Rita” (nee Blunt) Sweeney and grew up in the Devil’s Pocket neighborhood of Philadelphia.  She was predeceased by her parents, brother, sister-in-law and niece; Harry and Elizabeth “Betsy” and Betsy Sweeney.  Cass started her working career as a secretary and worked at both the Marine Corps and Naval Hospital of Philadelphia.  After raising three children she re-entered, the workforce and held several positions at the Obermayer, Rebmann, Maxwell and Hippel law firm of Philadelphia.                                                                            

Cass was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan and enjoyed traveling to Indian Rocks Beach, Florida annually to escape the cold Northeast winters.  She was very social, always smiling and loved to play games and laugh with friends and family.  In her honor, enjoy time laughing with your family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 13, 2023 at St. Ann’s Church, 2900 Atlantic Ave., Wildwood, NJ.  Friends may call from 10:00-10:45 am at St. Ann’s church.
