Going to work with Mr. C every day was fun. Not that he let you get away with anything, he expected the best. I felt he was my best friend. He always said I was very smart. He let me work around having a family and he had the horn of Beau Duke that he brought to my son Richie who was a big fan of the tv show dukes of hazard. I love you all. So many good memories. I wish I still lived at the shore

Pat:
Jim was one of those people who I always felt that would and should never pass because he was always Jim, not the politician running for office, not the senator, not the guy who could do you a favor, although I am sure that he helped many, but just Jim, the guy who when you met him made you feel like you were the only person he wanted to talk to at that time that was important to him. Jim had this gift, and he shared this gift with many.
Be assured that many of us who knew him, ever briefly like me, are sharing with you and your family the loss of a good man, a good friend.

My sympathies to everyone in the family! Mr. Cafiero was such an incredible person and I am honored to say I knew him. He and the Balliettes are an important part of my life and helped me begin my legal assistant career. I learned so much from them and have many fond memories of my days working with Mr. Cafiero, Bill and Andrea Balliette, Andrew Cafiero, Bill Kaufmann, Bernardine Hess, and all the wonderful co-workers. Such incredible lifetime memories! I will always be thankful for his guidance, friendship, and compassion. Rest in peace Mr. C.

My condolences to the Cafiero family, I was so sad to hear of Jim’s passing. He was a great friend and Lawyer for our family through out many years. He was so comical when talking old times with him of good old Wildwood days. Jim will be missed by all that knew him. He was well love. We will always remember him as a great friend, Lawyer, and our Senator. RIP my dear friend.

My sincere condolences from afar to the Cafiero family, close friends of mine when I was a little kid growing up in North Wildwood. Jimmy was such a close friend of the Catanoso family that he used to call himself an honorary member. But the honor was ours. He was always the epitome of sage wisdom, generosity and loyalty. All wrapped up in a witty sense of humor that spilled from him effortlessly. What a gift to Cape May County and the state. What a loss to his family and friends.

Mr Cafiero was one of the "dads" I knew at a very young age. The kids of Margaret Mace School all knew the family. Many of us played at their home and had fun in the yard with the "fort". Mr. Cafiero you were always a gentle man, a friendly man, a man of patience and care. We were all sad when you moved from our neighborhood. I pray for peace and comfort for your family during this time. You have led such a full and complete life that your loved ones will remember always. We will all remember the Cafieros.

My wife Nancy and I loved our great friend Jimmy. He had so many talents and a tremendous intellect. His humorous side was historic. His great love of America was evident and his devotion to family primary. His loyalty was insurmountable. Jimmy made sure his friend Frank Lo Biondo became Congressman over party wishes and at personal risk. We are so proud to have been his friends and our love of him and Pat endless Gid Bless

"Jimmy" Cafiero was a household name in my West Wildwood home back through the 1950's and '60's. My father. Lew Hand, Sr., was an active community person and worked on many political campaigns as well. My mother, Mary, was of an age with James and probably knew him growing up in North Wildwood. My father passed too young and my mother worked at a local nursing home - back when if you had to go into one your family might lose the house. My mother pestered me for some time to get the house put in my name. When I finally relented, she immediately told me to call Jimmy Cafiero. I did. It was really the first time he and I had met. As we settled down to business around the conference table, Jimmy leaned toward my mother and said, "Is this what you want, Mary? No one is forcing you?" He immediately endeared himself to me because I was so protective of my Mother and to see Jimmy looking out for her welfare meant the world to me. Over the years we would meet at the "I'm a Margaret Mace Baby" annual reunions and we got to chat. Adieu kind sir. Until we meet again.

Senator Cafiero’s gentle way of handling difficult topics and people, was exceptional. When I first joined the Senate, I was fortunate enough to serve on one of his committees. Watching how he handled the peoples business in an honest, straightforward and caring way taught me so much. Jimmy was truly a mentor during the years we served together in the Senate

Dear Mrs Cafiero and family:
I was very saddened to learn of the recent passing of your husband, father and grandfather. The Senator was a true gentleman, statesman and pillar of the community in every respect. I will remember with great affection each and every encounter I ever shared with him. The Senator’s recommendation letter written on my behalf more than forty years ago remains a prized possession to this day. I will keep the Senator and all of you in my thoughts and prayers. Unfortunately, a prior commitment prevents my attendance at his mass service. God bless!
With deepest condolences,
Kevin Yecco and family
