I knew Bob professionally through our mutual hospitality and tourism associations. I especially remember his kindness and professional courtesy. I had participated in an event, at his request, that required some preparation on my part. He was unable to attend. However, a week later I received a letter in which he thanked me and shared with me some of the written and oral comments from that day. That letter set him apart from most of my other colleagues. It became a standard in my own professional life that I did my best to emulate.
My deepest sympathies to Bob's wife and family.
