PATRICIA A MURPHY ( NEE O’ROURKE)

September 24,1938 to May 27, 2024

Beloved wife of John “Jack” Murphy of 51 years. Devoted mother of Michael ( Betti Jo ) , John “Jake” ( Leigh),

Maggy and Danielle. Grandmother to Kelsey ( Mike Bishop ), Michaeleen ( Tom Rossi ), Jake Jr., Thomas and Michael.

Great Grandmother to Mikey and Gracie and Favorite Aunt to many Nieces and Nephews including Marnie ( Brian )

and Rane and Doug.

Pat was a homemaker when her children were young and went back to school for a nursing degree at the age

of 40. After graduating, she started her career at Northeastern Hospital as a Nursing Supervisor and continued

working until retirement as a Nurse Manager in Perioperative Services at Cooper Medical Center. Long before starting

her nursing career Pat always took on the role of the family caregiver, then officially became “their nurse” for years to

come. Whenever someone in her large family  was sick or hurt Pat was always there to not only take care of  them but

also to translate the medical terms for our family of laymen. This was a wonderful trait that she passed down to

Danielle, Kelsey, and now Rane. A quality that will shine through, in her honor, with pride. To Pat and Jack, family was

the priority. They gave their children fun summers at the shore, many memories with family and  friends, nights

spent in the backyard having the time of their lives.Their trips to Hawaii, Alaska, many trips to Ireland and their

winters in Florida, brought back stories of love and laughter. They spent their summers in their dream home on the

beach in North Wildwood where they both committed their time to ELKs #1896, the AOH and LAOH. In the winters

their time was spent with the many close friends in Marco Island and Naples Florida. They were a fixture at all the

local happy hours.

After losing Jack, the love of her life in 2010, Pat continued to be  the matriarch of the family making sure that her

family continued  to have strong values that she taught them. She continued to live life without Jack with the help of her

best friend Ruth. They were known throughout Wildwood and Florida as “Thelma and Louise”although Pat and Ruth

certainly had much better adventures. Pat spent the last days of her life surrounded by loved ones in Her

Castle listening to the ocean and breathing in its breezes. She lived her life feeling blessed and passed on to be with her

beloved  Jack and Marylou, at peace. She will be missed by all. Relatives and friends are invited to gather Friday
