Obituary of Gordon T. Jones, III

On September 26th, 2024, Gordon Thomas Jones III passed away suddenly. Gordon is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Joey (nee Rusinko), his daughter, Nova (BJ) Kane and his greatest joy, his grandchildren, Vanessa and Fiona Kane. He is also survived by his siblings, Billy Jones (Sherri), Trudy Truss, and Benny Jones, as well as many nieces and nephews. Gordon was predeceased by his parents, Gordon (G.T.) and Betty Jones.

Gordon was born in Philadelphia PA and raised in Easton PA but Wildwood NJ is where his heart belonged. He met the love of his life in the summer of 1981 and when the opportunity arose to move from Easton to Wildwood permanently, Gordon and his family happily settled into life at the shore. Gordon immediately immersed himself into charity and volunteer work through the Greater Wildwood Elks Lodge #1896. Gordon focused greatly on all events that benefited children in Cape May County and beyond. He served as the Exhalted Ruler for several years and continued to serve as a state representative. He is best remembered for all the time and effort he put forth organizing the hoop shoot and soccer shoot for kids throughout the state.

Gordon enjoyed spending time with friends golfing, smoking cigars, and planning social events that would showcase any one of his dramatic clothing choices and eclectic sense of humor.

Everyone who knew Gordon, knows that his heart was always with his family. In December 2019, his only daughter blessed him with the greatest gift-the birth of his grandchildren, Vanessa and Fiona. “Grandfather’s” heart quickly melted and Pop Pop became the girls best friend, partner in crime, and ringleader of all adventures. He never hesitated to take the girls out for ice cream, trips to storybook land and Halloween shopping, because in the jones family  Halloween is a year long celebration.

Gordon will be missed greatly by his family and friends. He will be forever remembered for his love of life and his sense of humor.

Gordon’s celebration of life will be held on Friday October 4th, 2024. Visitation will begin at 10:00am and Service will begin at 11:00 at Ingersoll-Greenwood Funeral Home.
