Frank R. Distro Obituary

Frank R. Distro, 92, of Cape May Court House, NJ, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday August 16, 2024. Born in South River, NJ, he had been a resident of Cape May County for the past 55 Years. Frank was a Veteran of the US Air Force serving during the Korean War. He retired from the Cape May County Bridge Commission where he worked in the Maintenance Department and was a Toll Collector. He actively supported the Knights of Columbus in Wildwood, NJ. For many years after his retirement, he ran the parking lot of Laura’s Fudge in Wildwood. In his later years, he enjoyed cross country road trips with no planned destination in mind, just rambling along visiting old buddies and exploring new places. He is survived by his loving daughters: Jill Layre with whom he lived, and Terrell McKelvey and her husband, John. Four grandsons: Brian Layre, Kenneth Layre and his wife, Rachel, John “Peeps” McKelvey and his wife, Channing, and Andrew McKelvey and his wife, Jamie. Six Great-Grandchildren: Matthew and Penelope Layre; Mille, Jack, and Claire McKelvey; and Shae McKelvey. He is also survived by his ex-wife Kathleen Distro. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Anna (DeLucia) Distro and his sister, Faye. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Our Lady of Angels Church, 35 E. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House, NJ, where friends may call from 10 to 11 am at the church. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick, NJ.
